Garbutts take Hertz Pairs Open at Al Ain Equestrian Golf and Shooting Club
With 38 Pairs taking part in the 2nd Hertz Pairs Open the competition was fierce with visitors travelling from across the UAE and a strong contingent of home players.
The format of Pairs Better Ball Stroke play lent itself to some great scoring throughout the afternoon. The best mixed pair on the day was the home team of Martine Garbutt and Stephen Garbutt who scored Net 68.
There were 3 teams tied on a score of 65 Net for 4th, 3rd and 2nd place with Jim Muirhead and Ruth Muirhead missing out on count back to finish in 4th Place. The next two teams had to be split on the last three holes. Sergio De Souza and his son Samuel De Souza took the 3rd place spot and the team of Chris Bolger and Frederick Holdt took 2nd place overall.
The best gross score on the day was won by the home team of Richard Ellis and Jason Generally who scored a level par gross of 71.
The Hertz Pairs Open 2013 was won by the Pair of Daniel Hockings and John McFarlane whose Net score of 64, with a scintillating back 9 of 5 under par beat the rest of the field to take the main prize.
The special events prizes were picked up by Carel Nolte who won Men’s Longest Drive, Lizette Breytenbach who won Ladies Longest Drive, Eddie Garbutt and Ladislav Hlousek took the nearest the pin prizes.
