Galeppini Vijayan and Hage drive off with Arabian Ranches Volvo World Golf Challenge qualifier

Edoardo Galeppini returned a gross three over par 75 to win the Gross division of the Volvo World Golf Challenge qualifier played on Saturday, 20th October. There were three qualification spots up for grabs on the day, one in the gross division for handicap holders 0 to 12, Mens Net division for handicap holders 13 to 24 and the final spot went to the best Net score in the ladies division. A field of 72 competitors played on the day in perfect condition.

The day was full of action and memorable moments, none more so than a hole in one achieved by Jacques Leretz competing in the men’s net division, the competition was so tough not event with the assistance of an ace was Leretz able to claim the top spot, he had to settle for second place after posting 69 with the honours going to TR Vijayan by one shot when he posted a brilliant net 68.

The ladies division was contested amongst a small but competitive field with several players in brilliant form it was anybodies event to win. Lise Slane took an early clubhouse lead when she completed her round with a net 74 she held on for a while as the scores came in but had to settle for the runners up spot when Rania Hage posted a net 72. Hage put in some long hours on the range through the week, the hard work certainly paid off.

The three qualifiers will now compete in a regional final hosted at Al Badia in November with the winners going to Fancourt in South Africa to play in the Volvo World Golf Challenge Pro Am.
