Fun for the entire family at expanded Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship Interactive Village

Whether you are an avid golf fan or completely new to the game, spectators looking for a giant day out at this year’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship will enjoy the most exciting player line-up and tournament experience to feature in the Middle East with the introduction of an expanded HSBC Interactive Village.

The incredible field, led by current world number one Luke Donald, former world number ones Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods, and Martin Kaymer and reigning Major champions Charl Schwartzel, Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke guarantees world-class golfing action.

 

Yet rivaling the on-course entertainment is the HSBC Interactive Zone.Open daily and free to all spectators visiting the tournament from 26-29 January, the zone located in the heart of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority’s (ADTA) Championship Village – is back and better than ever.

Offering people of all ages a fantastic range of sporting activities including golf, tennis, cricket and rugby with free coaching from some of the greatest names in sport the interactive area also gives everyone a chance to test their sporting skills across a host of HSBC challenges with a whole host of brilliant prizes to be won.

 

For the first time a dedicated Children’s Zone will offer inspired kids the chance to try golf first-hand and recreate the swings of the best golfers in the world. While those youngsters with a creative flair can unleash their imagination in the HSBC Children’s Creative Zone, taking part in arts and crafts activities as part of an unforgettable family day out.

 

Simon Cooper, the CEO of HSBC Middle East and North Africa said;

 

“This year’s tournament is going to be spectacular, with such a stellar line up of the world best golfers, everyone will be itching to grab a club especially children wanting to relive those special moments watching the stars in action. The entire HSBC Interactive Zone is all about getting as many people as possible involved in golf and sport in general as well as introducing children to healthy lifestyles, it makes all the difference.”

 

 

Amongst the sporting legends to be found giving free tips within the HSBC Interactive Zone during the tournament will be current world number one, Luke Donald, and two of the greatest rugby players of all time, Gavin Hastings and Jonathan Davies.

 

Following his round on Thursday 26th January Luke Donald will visit the village, while HSBC sporting ambassadors, Hastings and Davies are set to conduct daily coaching clinics and answer questions from 11.45am – 12.45pm and 4pm – 5pm. From lineout throwing skills and kicking challenges, there are some great prizes to be won.

 

“Last year’s tournament and Interactive Village were a huge success, this year in keeping with our aim to bring only the best players and best parts of the spectator villages from the tournaments we sponsor abroad, we have made the Abu Dhabi HSBC Interactive Village this year an even better experience than before in order to give every kind of spectator an exceptional opportunity to enter the realm of golf”, continued Cooper.

 

A new exciting initiative that HSBC has introduced this year to the tournament under the theme “The Big Day Out” in order to involve the local community and spread the championship  spirit, include  “Dress in Red Day” whereby any visitor wearing  anything red be it a hat enters for free. In keeping with tradition, Emirates Golf Federation members, children under 18 (who must be accompanied by an adult), and HSBC customers by presenting their credit cards at the entrance, all enter for free.
