Frenchman Alexander Levy moves into the top 20 in the Race to Dubai after Portugese win

Frenchman Alexander Levy won his second European Tour title of the season to move into the top 20 in The Race to Dubai and further solidify his spot to play on the renowned Earth course in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates from Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 November.

The tournament was curtailed to 36 holes after heavy rain made conditions at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Club in Vilamoura, Portugal unplayable.
The 24-year-old Levy won his maiden European Tour title earlier this year when he claimed the Volvo China Open by four shots over Tommy Fleetwood.
“It feels very special,” he said. “If at the start of the year if you had said I would win two tournaments I would say ‘never!’ to you.
“I played only four shots at the weekend and I won the tournament, but the most important thing is I have the trophy in my hand.”
Levy’s two rounds of 61 and 63 were enough to see him finish with an 18 under par total to seal a three shot win over runner-up Nicolas Colsaerts, who came within inches of becoming the first man to shoot a sub-60 round in the European Tour’s 42-year history when he carded a stunning round of 60 on the opening day.
With €1,003,990 in prize money, Levy now moves into the top 20 in The Race to Dubai and is all set to make his DP World Tour Championship debut when The European Tour’s season-ending grand finale gets underway at Jumeirah Golf Estates next month.

Belgium’s Colsaerts now has a fighting chance to make it to the DP World Tour Championship as his runner-up finish in Portugal sees him move from 85th to 58th in The Race to Dubai rankings with €458,925 in prize money.

The 2012 European Ryder Cup team member finished tied for fourth at the ISPS Handa Wales Open last month and will need a couple of good finishes in the final stretch of the season to book his ticket to Dubai.

Chile’s Felipe Aguilar finished third on 13 under par while Denmark’s Morten Ørum Madsen, England’s Richard Bland and France’s Romain Wattel all finished tied for fourth place on 11 under par.
