Fredriksson Clinches Club Championship Double

Pontus Fredriksson defended his Club championship with an impressive 144 tally, one under par, over the Faldo and Majlis courses. Fredriksson signed for a gross 71 in round one over the Faldo course including an opening burst that signaled his intent to the rest of the 70 strong field. He reeled off a trio of threes; a birdie, par, and eagle start to his title defence. He dropped shots on the 4th and 9th but a further birdie on the 5th saw him out in 35. His back nine continued in the same vane, birdies on the 11th and 13th helped him complete the back nine in 36 strokes to result in his 2-under par tally of 71.

Earlier in round one Dan Hendry posted a level par 73 in the first match of the day, the highlight of his round being an eagle 3 on the par five 10th hole. Joel Neale joined Dan and Pontus in the final pairing following his opening 75.

Pontus started the final round strongly with birdies on the 3rd and 4th seeing him out in 36 shots. He closed the door on the rest of the field with birdies on the 10th and 13th to get to 3-under par for the championship. A disappointing bogey, bogey finish resulted in a 73 and 144 winning tally. His closest challenge came from Dan Hendry and Tom Green but both fell 4-shots shy of the victory mark. Hendry followed his opening 73 with a 75 and Tom Green produced an inspired 71 to beat his opening round by 6 shots and claim runners-up position.
