Foley towers above the field Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club Coral Beach Resorts Sharjah Midweek 9 Hole Bogey

Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club member Peter Foley produced the best 9 holes of the evening as he stormed to the top of the leader board in the recent Coral Beach Resorts Sharjah Midweek 9 Hole Bogey.

Foley who has been working extremely hard on his swing with SGSC’s new Teaching Professional Scott Graham finally acknowledged all of the hard work as he returned a score of 3up against the course to claim the overall winner’s prize.

One behind Foley was Yohannes Tesfa who finished 2up against the course, Tesfa unfortunately faded badly over the last 3 holes losing 2 out of the 3 holes against the course, and this was to cost him his chance of overall victory; however his score was strong enough to still win the Division 2 prize.

With a record 6 golfers all tied on 1up against the course there was going to be an epic scorecard countback to settle the remaining prizes for the evening. The hottest finishes was Amit Kochar who finished 2up over his final 6 holes, Kochar who plays from a 17 handicap therefore picked up the voucher for Runners-Up spot in Division 2.
The Division 1 winning prize went to Englishman Paul Gledhill who managed to pip Indian golfer A.E Ravi who then settled for the Runners-Up spot, the countback procedure at this stage having been extended to the last 3 holes where Gledhill had kept his composure to finish strongly. That left three unlucky golfers on the evening, Halim Husin, Parvez Merchant and SGSC’S 2014 Club Captain J.P Simon who all fell afoul of the countback ruling on this occasion.

All five placing golfers celebrated with Pro Shop vouchers to be spent at the Golf House club store with Peter Foley also be presented a Friday Brunch at the superb Casa Samak Restaurant within the Coral Beach Resorts Sharjah complex.
