Fitchet Favours Renovation Challenge at Al Hamra Golf Club

George Fitchet scored a solid 35 points to finish with a 2 shot winning margin in the Green keepers Revenge Renovation Challenge.

After recent completion of the annual championship course renovations it was time for Al Hamra’s Superintendent Blair Smith to have his hand in the course set-up. This meant there were some very interesting pin positions in some unusual and difficult places to really provide a strong test for all the competitors. This set-up obviously suited George who had similar nines of 18 and 17 points to finish two clear of Weijan Xu on 33 points. Third place and last podium spot came down to a card play-off between John Kiddie and Ma Li Min as both recorded matching scores of 33 points. Li Min’s better back nine of 17 points was enough to see her knock John back into fourth and just miss out on a prize. The two special events on the day were picked up by Paula Svensson for her efforts on Hole 4 and Sergio De Souza for his nearest the pin effort on Hole 11.
