Finalists decided in the Saif Zone Golf Society League at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club
The semi final fixture in the SAIF Zone Golf Society League proved to be a tense day. With the trophy firmly in their sights, all societies were poised and ready for action.
The remaining 2 societies left to battle it out in the final are Dubai ExPutts 1 and MASIN.
MASIN beat Dubai Divots 2&1 in both matches. Despite an impressive round of 80 from Nick Fraser (Hcp. 12.1), the Dubai Divots had a frustrating round, carding losses with pars and bogeys, at the hands of the unstoppable duo of Ahmed Feisal and Sidik Jamal of MASIN.
A draw in one match gave KEGS 2 a glimmer of hope against Dubai ExPutts 1, but all hope was quashed thanks to Phil Sharpe and Mark Cunningham’s 5&4 victory in the other match. In fact, the day belonged to Phil Sharpe who produced his first ever sub 80 round and his shot on the par 3 (3rd hole) ending inches from the hole, winning him the nearest the pin prize of the day.
Phil commented that the Dubai ExPutts have all thoroughly enjoyed the competition and thanked SGSC and SAIF Zone for creating such a fun and sociable event. “The course is always immaculate and we’re all sad that the tournament is drawing to a close for the season”.
