Final Match of the Invitational Scratch Golf League to take place this friday

Emirates Golf Club will play Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club in the Final match of the 2010 – 2011 Invitational Scratch Golf League this Friday at Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai.

Twelve teams from throughout the UAE began their round robin fixtures back in November 2010. Four three team leagues were drawn with each team playing the other two teams on a home and away basis with the winning teams from each of the four leagues progressing to the semi-finals.

The Final sees the three times defending champions Emirates Golf Club play Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club in an 8 player a side fourball scratch matchplay format.

Emirates Golf Club won their league against teams from Yas Links, Abu Dhabi and The Address Montgomerie, Dubai and won their semi-final match against Arabian Ranches Golf Club.

Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club won their league against teams from The Els Club, Dubai and Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club and their semi-final against Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai.

Bob Driver, Co-ordinator of the Invitational Scratch Golf League said at the Final draw announcement, ‘It has been a very successful year once again for the Invitational Scratch League – the fifth in the history of the event. We congratulate especially the two finalists in Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on reaching the Final. However, we must also thank all 12 teams for their participation to make the 2010 – 2011 league happen. Special thanks must also go to the host golf clubs of both semi-final fixtures Arabian Ranches Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and the Final match hosts Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai for their extended support.’

‘The Final looks like being a closely contested affair with Emirates Golf Club having used 14 players during the season and Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club having used 15 players in their respective 6 matches on their journey including the Final. John Fellingham remains the only player in the 2010 – 2011 league to achieve a 100 % record of 5 wins with Charlie Stephenson (DCGYC) in the runners-up spot for the individual honours having achieved 4 wins and a half in the 5 matches to date,’ continued Driver.
