FIGME UAE compete in 64th Philippine Airlines Interclub Tournament
Ten members of Filipino Golfers in the Middle East have just flown to the Cagayan De Oro, Philippines on 20th Feb. to participate in the 64th Philippine Airlines Interclub Tournament.
The prestigious event will feature 80 golf societies around the world which equates to 800 golfers competing from 23rd to 26th Feb. 2011. Practice sessions will be held on 21st and 22nd Feb.
FIGME is one of the 34 international teams that will showcase their golf abilities and sportsmanship. The prestigious Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club and Del Monte Golf Club will be the venue for the 4 days golf tournament.
Dubai Aluminium an avid supporter of golf events in Dubai sponsored the apparel for the whole team.
Ramon Navea, Team Captain has prepared the contingent since September 2010 and laid down the ground work up until the formation of the final line up. Ramon mentioned “The selection process was based through OOM (Order of Merit), then commitment and last is availability. There are some members that were in the OOM’ s top 20 however cannot make it due to work schedules hence they were replaced.” Next year will be a bigger contingent perhaps 20 golfers from FIGME’s 119 members.
