European Tour Tournament Director Miguel Vidaor awarded 10 year anniversary Spirit of the Championship accolade

A decade of dedication to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship has seen European Tour Tournament Director Miguel Vidaor awarded the 10-year anniversary ‘Spirit of the Championship’ accolade. Vidaor has played an integral role in the development of the Championship every year since its inception in 2006 and was today recognised for his service with the coveted award at the tournament’s 10-year closing ceremony.

With 23 years at the European Tour under his belt, the Spaniard ensures the clinical running of everything ‘inside the ropes’, from The National course set-up to coordinating referees, draws and tee-times.

“It’s a great honour to receive this award on the Championship’s milestone tenth anniversary,” said Vidaor following a prize giving ceremony on the 18th green where he was presented with his trophy by His Excellency Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation.

“The Championship has grown significantly over the past 10 years into one of the biggest events on the European Tour, and I am very proud to have been a part of that.”

The European Tour was a natural pathway for Barcelona-based Vidaor, who previously worked for the Catalan Golf Federation, enjoys golf as an amateur player and has family ties to the game. His brother is an accomplished course designer, and his dad a referee.

Previous ‘Spirit of the Championship’ winners include Ishtiaq Khan, Senior Foreman at Al Laith scaffolding company (2013), and Rescue Expert-Instructor Doug Smith, who won it last year.
