European Tour Golf day brings the curtain down on the DP World Tour Championship

Just 24 hours after World Number One Rory McIlroy lifted the DP World Tour Championship, the Earth course hosted The European Tour Golf Day for sponsors and invited guests at Jumeirah Golf Estates. Playing off the club tees but with the flag positions from the final round of the $8 million tournament, the ‘Par is Your Friend’ format tournament saw 37 teams take to the course with victory in the morning shotgun going to defending champions Fitness First on eighteen under par, one shot ahead of Rolex 1 (-17) with BMW 1 taking third place on fourteen under par.

The afternoon shotgun was won by the team from 7DAYS who took first place by one shot on sixteen under par from Xerox (-15) in second place. Third place went to Atlantis, The Palm (-14).

On hand to present the trophies was renowned golf coach Pete Cowen who joined Nick Tarratt, European Tour International Director, Dubai Office, at the prize giving ceremonies at the end of both morning and afternoon sessions. Collecting first place for Fitness First were Mark Botha, Nathan Brown, Annie Brown and Nick Hymas, while the winners in the 7DAYS team were Mark Rix, Nick Pomeroy, Ian Plumley and Neal Hamp-Adams.

Additional prizes for nearest the pin in the morning session went to Andrew Matthews and Mark Donovan, while Gary Wells and Hassan Yazdi took the honours in the afternoon shotgun.
