Etihad Airways congratulates Guest Ambassador Martin Kaymer on US Open win

Etihad Airways has congratulated Guest Ambassador, Martin Kaymer, for his runaway win at golf’s U.S. Open in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Kaymer held his nerve to win the tournament, one of golf’s four majors, by 8 shots after dominating for all four days, to end nine under par overall.

It is Kaymer’s second tournament success since joining the Etihad Airways Guest Ambassador program in January 2014, having won the Players’ Championship at Sawgrass, Florida, in May.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are delighted for Martin and congratulate him on another fantastic career achievement in winning the US Open.

“Martin’s dedication, focus, and desire to win, places him at the summit of his profession and we look forward to celebrating with him when he’s back in Abu Dhabi next.”

In addition to the Players’ Championship and U.S. Open in 2014, the German star has also won the 2010 US PGA Championship; the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship in 2008, 2010 and 2011; and holed Europe’s winning putt in the 2012 Ryder Cup.

As an Etihad Guest Ambassador, Kaymer regularly takes part in Etihad Airways corporate initiatives and promotions in his home country of Germany as well as other key markets for the airline around the world.

The Etihad Guest Ambassador program was launched in October 2013 and features some of the biggest names from the global entertainment, art and sporting industries.

Current ambassadors include Australian celebrity and X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue, Indian actress Katrina Kaif, Vietnamese Australian chef Luke Nguyen, French footballer Patrick Vieira and Australian cricketer Shane Warne.
