Emmanuel and Valencia are the 7th Slim n Lite Mixed Open Champions at Al Ghazal Golf Club

The 7th Annual Slim’ n Lite Amateur Mixed Open Championship final round at Al Ghazal Golf Club was completed in style by new Champions Ramesh Emmanuel and Rene Valencia on a total of 150.

Emmanuel and Valencia scored a superb 74 to win by 5 shots from nearest rivals and first round leaders Chaya Kinder and Bernie Blanchard who could only score a 79 for the day.  Valencia who eagled the par 4 – 9th hole gave the combo a 3 under par 32 lead from the pack and they really never looked back.

First round leaders Kinder and Blanchard scored 38 on the front 9 and 41 on the back and had to settle for second place with a total of 155, one shot ahead of Korean duo Inki Kim and S.J. Hwang.

The testing Strokeplay better-ball format with the addition of both scores to count on the 9th and 18th proved too much for some competitors especially the 2011 Champions Hayman and Scurr who were unable to repeat last year’s form.

If the best first day winners with a 77 were father and son combination of Johann and Jan-Philip Friedmann had been able to play the second day the results may have been very different despite this they still picked up a prize.  Best second day with an equally superb score of 74 went to Jim Pullinger and Charles Anderson.

2’s Club winners were Jim Pullinger, pat Gordon, Stanley Mirossay, Joe D’souza and Rene Valencia.

Mr. Hany Abdelnour representative of Slim ‘n Lite Health and Diet Food Centre presented the prizes.  Captain Peter McManus announced the winners assisted by Lady Captain Deborah Castle.  Captain Peter thanked Mr. Abdelnour for his continued support of Al Ghazal Golf Club.
