Emirates Golf Club beat Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club by 3 – 1 in the Final match of the 2010 11 Invitational Scratch Golf League
On a pleasantly breezy afternoon the three times defending champions became four times champions over the 7,303 yards par 72 Black Tee Al Badia course. The top match went to Emirates Golf Club with a 4 & 3 victory from Khalid Yousuf and Joel Neale.
The performance of the day came from the fourth pairing of the Emirates Golf Club team of Kouroche Achtari and Dan Hendry who won impressively out in the country 7 & 5 against the experienced pairing of John Fellingham and Paul King – Fellingham having been unbeaten in his 5 previous matches and King having a similar 100 % record in his 4 matches this season.
David Gowans and Francisco Giles pulled one point back for Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and with the overall game position standing at 2 – 1 it was left to the Emirates Golf Club pairing of Ed Hesson and Rohit Gupta to win the home hole on the last green to secure the winning point.
The format of the Invitational Scratch Golf League is 8 players a side in a fourball scratch matchplay format. The League began at the start of the season with 12 participating teams from throughout the UAE in four leagues played in round robin format with two matches at home and two away.
Emirates Golf Club won their league division against teams from Yas Links, Abu Dhabi and The Address Montgomerie, Dubai and won their semi-final match against Arabian Ranches Golf Club.

Bob Driver, Co-ordinator of the Invitational Scratch Golf League said at the Final presentation, ‘It has been a very successful year once again for the Invitational Scratch Golf League – the fifth in the history of the event. We congratulate our four times champions Emirates Golf Club for their continued fine golf and strength in depth. The enthusiasm from all the clubs to compete in the League this season has been more than refreshing and we also appropriately, on this day, thank our host club, Al Badia Golf Club for their hospitality of this Final match.’
Special thanks were also given to Bob Driver from the clubs and all participating players for all his league co-ordination and administration work and time that is appreciated by everyone involved and without his contribution the Invitational Scratch League would not take place.
