Dynamic Dynamite David Hadley wins the Third Philippine Independence Day Golf Invitational 2011

The Filipino Golfers in the Middle East (FIGME) celebration of 113th Anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence saw a strong field of 72 golfers battling for the coveted Independence Day Crown playing off a ¾ individual stable ford HCP.

H.E. Philippine Consul General Benito Valeriano led the opening ceremony with a straight tee shot on the fairways of The Championship Course, Majlis marking the commencement of the shotgun event at 13:30 hrs. His Excellency expressed his gratitude to all the participants and the organizing committee (FIGME officers and members) and also delighted with the yearly participation of the international community.

David Hadley, (HCP 8) an honorary member of FIGME and the CEO of Emirates Healthcare Limited blasted the pack garnering 36 stable ford points and achieving a humongous drive (longest drive award) on the Par 5 – 527 yards hole 10 with 200 yards left to the pin ending up with a gross birdie 4. His score card highlights a number of gross birdies and pars which accumulates to a best gross score of 78.

The shot of the day was captured by Ramon Navea, 11 HCP (FIGME Chairman and Service Quality Improvement Manager of Union National Bank) through the nearest the pin on hole 7 with a 6 iron 166 yards (against the wind) where the ball just dropped 8 inches off the cup ending up with a birdie putt.

Platinum sponsors CB&I and Cathay Pacific and Gold Patron Western Union rewarded the division winners with crystal trophies, golf hardware equipments and flight tickets (from Cathay Pacific) for the King of the Philippine Independence Golf Day. Red Bull was the official energy drink sending off their beetle car and model inspired ladies.

Steamy sticky weather did not deter the fighting spirits of all the jolly participants by enjoying a round of golf and meeting new business associates. Lots of prizes in the raffle draws were handed over like airline tickets (business class and economy), dinner and spa vouchers, drivers, wedges had made the event a lively one.

Platinum Division Winners (0 to 12) saw Adam Hahn, Eric Matabang and Pat Morrow in the winning circle with 33 and 32 points a piece.

Mohd. Idris Firdaus, Rey Lapa and Werner Rooseboom dominated the Gold Division winners (13 – 19) garnering scores of 31 and 29 points respectively.

The Silver Division (20 to 26) saw a field of promising improved golfers headed by Ibrahim Baggash, Jay Martin and Derek Bristol. Ladies or Bronze Division saw Joy Lirio and Janine Hadley dominating the field of 7 lady golfers. It was a double celebration for David and Janine as a couple as both of them are in the winning circle.
