Dupree and Burke go one better in International Pairs UAE Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club event

Just a year after coming out on the wrong end of a 4-way countback, Mark Dupree & Westley Burke returned and made amends, qualifying for the National Final of the 2013 Tech Access International Pairs Presented by Cadillac where they will represent Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club.

In 2012, four teams finished on the same score and this time round, three pairs scored 42 stableford points to force a scorecard countback. In contrast to the previous year, Dupree & Burke won the 3013 edition thanks to a storming back-9 of 23 points. After a steady outward nine the ideally suited duo set their round alight with six net birdies on the way home. Both players contributed equally, one of the keys to successful better-ball golf so may themselves amongst the favourites come June.

Salim Shaikh & Kazuaka Nakamura just missed out on the top spot despite an excellent day’s work but in the end a bogey on the short 8th hole cost them victory and the chance to progress to the International Pairs World Final in Scotland. Third place was collected by Vinod Arya & Chandan Vaidya who made a net eagle on each side of the course but were ultimately undone by a few too many bogeys. The nearest the pin prizes were won by AE Ravi on the 8th and by Ricky ‘Boom Boom’ Dominguez, who is more used to winning long drive prizes but displayed his finesse on this occasion on the 3rd hole.

Chandan Vadiya was the lucky recipient of a night at Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi at the prizegiving draw while Daud Osman and Sanjoy Das won Crocs Golf Shoes, presented by DG Golf.
