Dubai World Championship the greatest golf week on earth

With 60 of the world’s top golfers jetting into Dubai, plus a jam-packed line-up of entertainment and the greatest party on “Earth” atmosphere in the Championship Village, the Dubai World Championship presented by DP World is set to rock the UAE’s sporting and social scene this December.

Now in its third year, the Dubai World Championship will take place from 8th–11th December 2011 on the lush green fairways of Jumeirah Golf Estates, just a short drive from Dubai. The Dubai World Championship is the final tournament in The Race to Dubai and the season finale of The European Tour.

Played on the spectacular Greg Norman designed “Earth” championship course, the four day competition will see The European Tour’s top 60 players battle it out for  the trophy and a share of the US$7.5 million prize money. With an additional US$7.5 million dollars awarded to the top 15 finishers in The Race to Dubai, the combined prize purse is one of the most lucrative in global sport. Former winners of the Dubai World Championship are England’s Lee Westwood (2009) and Sweden’s Robert Karlsson (2010).

With world-class golfing action on the course and an unrivalled line-up of entertainment and leisure options at the event, the Dubai World Championship promises the perfect day out for golfing enthusiasts, party-lovers and families alike.

Away from the fairways, visitors can catch the sporting action on the big screens in the Championship Village, or relax on bean bags and hammocks while enjoying the glorious surroundings and socializing with friends. With 60 players competing in pairs, the tournament format is one of the easiest to follow – allowing even the most uninitiated golf fan to enjoy the on-course competition.
