Dubai Creek Inter Society Championship 2012 results

The Dubai Creek Inter-Society Championship supported by Ecco and Scorpio Golf was contended recently. This event was a chance for the various societies to come together and take part in some fun and friendly competition.  There were seven societies represented by their team of eight players.  They were JIGGERS-Dubai, the Indian Golf Society, the Lebanese Golf Society, BBBGS, DREGS, JAGS and the Dogfight.  As was the case in previous years, the format was Pairs Betterball Stableford with the best three scores counting towards the overall team score.

The players had to face difficult conditions in the unusual early summer humidity.  However, despite this there was some very low scoring.  Winning the event for the first time was the Lebanese Golf Society, Captained by George Khairallah.  His team played superbly well posting their three best scores of 47, 40 and 38 to give them a winning total of 125 points.  The star performer on the day was Creek member Adonis Nasr who played the round of his life scoring a gross 72.  Afterwards Nasr commented; “What a day!  It’s my best ever day on a golf course!”

Closely behind them were the team from the DREGS Society whose top three scores of 44, 37 and 37 saw them secure 2nd place on 118 points.  A further three shots back to finish in 3rd place with three scores of 40, 39 and 36 and a respectable total of 115 points was the Indian Golf Society.
