Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club Member’s Challenge results

The Member’s Challenge sponsored by Minal Medical and EPL FZCO was played today at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.  100 members and guests came along to the club and enjoyed the event which was played to raise money toward the junior staff fund at the club.

The Member’s Challenge was the third event in a series driven by club captain Mr Joseph Andrade with the goal of encouraging more social interaction between members of the club while raising funds for the staff fund.  Mr Andrade commented, “Like the first two editions of the MC today also we have a full field and a great day of golf.  The course was looking stunning today and it was a real pleasure!”

The format for the event was individual stableford with a ¾ handicap allowance.  Winning the overall competition was Creek lady member Naema Maya with a superb 39 points.  Miss Maya was delighted with her win and said “I played very well today and thoroughly enjoyed the event.”

The Men’s division was very closely contested with the top three players all ties on 35 points.  However, winning in the count back was club captain Joseph Andrade with an inward nine holes of 20 points.  This caused some hilarity at the prize presentation when Joseph was awarded his prize by his wife Minal who was the main sponsor.  The runner-up was Vipen Sethi and Stephen Fidler managed the third place spot.

The ladies division was one by Creek Lady member Vanessa North with a superb 35 points and the runner up was Joy Lirio on 30 points.  Young Creek talent Aryan Chordia scored 37 points to win the junior category and beat into second place young Aashka Desai who played her best ever round scoring a gross 91 for 35 points.  Stephen Hubner, Head Golf Professional at Dubai Creek commented, “I am really delighted to see that Aryan and Aashka are playing so well.  I’m particularly happy for Aashka scoring her personal best today.  She has been working so hard on her game and deserves the results.”

Winning the nearest the pin prizes on the four par 3 holes were Russell James, Dhruv Nair, Warren Panting, and Fadi Mehio.
