Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Emirates Golf Club progress to the Invitational Scratch Golf League Semi Finals
Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Emirates Golf Club won their respective Semi-Finals of the 2010 – 2011 Invitational Scratch Golf League over the weekend.
Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club beat Al Badia Golf Club in the first Semi-Final at Arabian Ranches by 3 matches to 1 and three times defending champions Emirates Golf Club beat 2006-07 league champions Arabian Ranches Golf Club at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club by 4 – 0 in the second Semi-Final.
The League matches began back in November 2010 with 12 teams in four divisions of three clubs each with the four winning clubs progressing to these Semi-Final matches. The format of the Invitational Scratch League is 8 players a side playing in fourball scratch matchplay.
Highlights of the EGC v ARGC match included the victory by Khalid Yousuf and Joele Neale in the top match by 5 & 4 over Steve Bennett and Gary Swan.
The 3 – 1 victory by Dubai Creek saw John Fellingham (DCGYC) win his 5th point of the league season eclipsing Doug McClennan who lost in his Arabian Ranches match and therefore cannot catch Fellingham who now leads the individual standings with only the final remaining.
Bob Driver, Invitational Scratch Golf League Co-ordinator said at the conclusion of the match, ‘We congratulate both Dubai Creek and Emirates Golf Club for winning their Semis. The Final match will be held at a neutral venue and we hope to announce the time and place shortly.’
