Dubai Aluminium extends Omega Dubai Desert Classic sponsorship for 2013 event

Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) will support the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in 2013 by once more extending its sponsorship of the longest-running European Tour event in the region.

A top-class field, which includes the likes of former world number one Lee Westwood and defending champion Rafael Cabrera-Bello, will line-up for the honours, promising an absorbing contest at the award-winning Majlis course from January 31 to February 3.

Ranked as the world’s largest single-site primary aluminium smelter using pre-bake anode technology, DUBAL has been associated with the flagship golf event of Dubai almost since its inception in 1989. The company was the main sponsor of the tournament for 19 years. This a long-standing partnership has become stronger and stronger with time.

DUBAL’s involvement reflects the company’s corporate commitment to back community initiatives and the broader goals of the Dubai and UAE governments. “DUBAL is delighted to continue its association with ‘golf in DUBAi’ as we consider corporate investment in the growth and development of Dubai to be both a duty and a privilege,” said Mohammed A Yahya, Manager: Corporate Relations & International Affairs.

“Accordingly, we take pride in sponsoring and participating in world-class events that showcase and promote both the city of Dubai and DUBAL across the world.”

Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi, commented: We have enjoyed a very steady and fruitful partnership with DUBAL over the past many years, and we appreciate their significant contribution in raising the profile of the event which has played a key role in promoting golf in the region.

“The support means a lot to us as we strive and deliver a world-class product without compromising on quality,” Buamaim said.

‘golf in DUBAi’ is backed by Omega as the title sponsor and DUBAL as the sponsor. The co-sponsors are: CNN, Drydocks World & Maritime World, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, Mercedes-Benz and wasl while Dubai Duty Free, Carpetland and Motivate are the Patrons in golf in DUBAi’s drive to showcase the emirate’s vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
