Donaldson goes low in the 2nd round of the Emirates Amateur Open

James Donaldson fired a 2-under par 70 over the Majlis course in the second round of the Emirates Amateur Open sponsored by Omega.

Following his opening 75 yesterday on the Faldo he finds himself at level par for the Championship going into the final round.

Jack Colgate and round one leader Michael Harradine are his closest contenders, two shots adrift on 147, two over par. Craig Forest, representing Jumeirah Golf Estates, signed for the best of the day 69 to force himself into contention on 148, 3 off the pace.

The round two cut fell at 167, 22 over par, the top 65 players will compete in the final round over the Majlis tomorrow with those who missed the cut playing a separate 18 hole event on the Faldo course.

The 23rd edition of the Championship saw 137 players tee up and Emirates Golf Club welcomed Omega on board as title sponsor. It is fitting that Omega now sponsor the Dubai Ladies Masters, Dubai Desert Classic and the largest amateur open in the region. In total 56 golf clubs are represented including Calcutta Golf Club (India), Shadow Hawk Golf Club (USA) and the home of golf itself, St Andrews (UK).
