Disher, Popp Madsen, Smith and Smith take Captain’s Drive

Arabian Ranches Golf Club hosted Andrew Burrow and Adrienne Fullerton’s Captains Drive In. The 4 Player Team event was set over the challenging Burrow layout on Saturday, 18th September.

The team of Peter Disher, Thomas Popp Madsen, Jett Smith and Sonia Smith returned a fabulous 48 points to win by 2 from the team of JC & Catherine Hut, James Sayer and John Watts. This event welcomed the new Club Captains into Office (Andrew Burrow & Adrienne Fullerton) and also thanked the out going Club and Lady Captain – John Hainey and Fortuna Dougherty whose term in office finished on 31 August.

The format was an Irish Fourball or otherwise known as Irish Stableford. Each competitor played his or her own ball throughout with all four players Stableford scores counting towards the team total on the Par 3's, the best two scores on the Par 4's and the best Individual score on the Par 5's. The twist was in the scoring with 4 points for a Net Albatross, 3 points for a Net Eagle, 2 points for a Net Birdie and 1 point for a Net Par.

The Arabian Ranches Golf Club event attracted a field of 100 players, twenty five teams.

Francois Wolfaardt commented “It has been a great day and a great year with John and Fortuna in office, they have been tremendous supporters of the Club, Membership, Management and the social calendar of events. We all look forward to another fun filled year with Andy Burrow and Adrienne Fullerton arriving in to office.
