Dhruv Chopra succeeds in Titleist Dubai Creek Red Hot Open

Winner Dhruv Chopra who claimed the 2019 title courtesy of a superb 38 points

Dhruv Chopra: Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht club hosted the ever popular Titleist Dubai Creek Red Hot Open this past weekend. Despite the name of the event suggesting a hot afternoon, participants were treated to a small storm, a brief shower, and pleasantly ‘cool’ conditions to enjoy their afternoon of golf! A fantastic turnout of 90 golfers gathered to enjoy the challenge of playing from the red tees for male golfers, and green tees for ladies.

It was Dhruv Chopra who claimed the 2019 title courtesy of a superb 38 points. This earnt Dhruv the perpetual trophy along with a wonderful Titleist Stand Bag provided by the events sponsors, Prosports and Titleist. It was a closely thought battle for the runner up spot, with big hitting Mikhail Pinto taking 2nd place on 37 points via countback from Siddartha Bandi who also had 37 points.

Dubai Creek Golf Professional Joe Way enjoyed a strong finish to his round with birdies on his final four holes; 17, 18, 1 & 2, and it was enough to give him the Gross title with a 5 under 66 (41 points). Francisco Giles hit it closest on the 8th to win nearest the pin, while a stunning wedge to a matter of inches helped Adonis Nasr win nearest the pin on the 16th hole.

After the prize presentation Mikey Major, Dubai Creek’s Golf Services Manager, commented; “This is always a fantastic event and one that poses a different challenge from the apparently shorter tees. Last year we had 50 golfers take part, compared to 90 today so it just shows how popular the event is! Thank you to everyone for enjoying their afternoon with us, and of course we must be very appreciative of Prosports and Titleist for sponsoring the event with such excellent prizes.”
