Dewald Continues Medal Winning Streak at Al Hamra Golf Club Medal

Dewald Lubbe made it three out of four by winning the January Monthly Medal in tough weather conditions. As competitors turned up early Friday morning they were greeted by the unusual sight of strong wind and rain providing a proper test of golfing ability. With many of the competitors not use to playing in such conditions the scoring was expected to be higher than normal, especially in the strokeplay format.

This turned out to be very much the case as Dewald picked up the Best Gross prize to add to his October and December Monthly Medal wins by shooting and unusual 85. This just pushed Jake Maki-Petaja back into second on a back nine card play-off as he also scored an 85 after having an unbelievable front nine of 36. Four shots back in third place, was last night’s Floodlit Winner Dave Hoggins who carded an 89.

Husam Al Sayed wrapped up the Net Division first prize with a very respectable 75 made up of consistent nines of 38 and 37 to finish with a one shot winning margin. Closely behind in second was Magnus Blomgren who carded 76 to beat Mohammed Darwish into third after a card play-off as he also finished with 76.
