Bryson DeChambeau on top of the world

The 2019 champion celebrated his win with a trip to the top of the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai

Bryson DeChambeau secured his first professional international win at the 2019 Omega Dubai Desert Classic this weekend after competing against the worlds top golfers. The 2019 champion, who is a massive fan of Dubai, celebrated his win with a trip to the top of the iconic Burj Al Arab on Monday morning, following a visit At The Top of the Burj Khalifa ahead of the tournament.

DeChambeau, who represented the United States of America in the 2018 Ryder Cup, achieved his goals going into the tournament of securing his first professional international win, with a closing 64 and finishing the week on 24 under par. This was only Bryson’s second appearance at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, after he claimed the Amateur Medal in 2016. His spectacular win also set a new tournament record, which was held by last year’s champion Haotong Li.

Along with celebrating it’s 30th edition, the tournament welcomed a record breaking 62,699 confirmed spectators over the seven days of perfect golfing conditions. Spanning from the Monday’s practice round to Sunday’s final round, the event saw a 22% increase over the number of fans who attended in 2018.

David Spencer, Tournament Director, commented: “Having Bryson return to Dubai to compete against so many other great players led the way to another tremendous event highlighted by the fact he went onto secure his first international professional win and his name is now etched onto our wonderful Dallah Trophy beside other greats of the game!”

Spencer added: “We have worked hard to make this year special with a range of exciting offers at the tournament including the brand new hospitality structures. We were thrilled to see such a diverse spectator base attend and once again showcasing our tournament as the Major of the Middle East.”

“Emirates Golf Club’s world famous Majlis Course has shown why it continues to be one of the favourite courses for the players. The course is always in pristine condition for the tournament, however this year it truly exceeded expectations and the feedback from players and fans has been extraordinary. We would like to thank everyone who visited the 2019 Omega Dubai Desert Classic this year for creating an atmosphere that has been enjoyed by all the players, fans and the millions of TV viewers watching around the world.”
