Das wins Orient Travel Thai Airways Monthly Medal at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club

A very impressive nett 68 from Sanjoy Das was good enough by one stroke to see him home as the champion in the recent Orient Travel – Thai Airways Monthly Medal.

Some impressive form of late has seen him finishing high on the leaderboards, but he was finally able to claim his first win in this event, helped hugely by an outward 9 holes of 39.

Finishing one stroke off the pace was Iranian low handicapped golfer Hassan Yazdi, a sublime gross 72 (nett 69) with no 6’s recorded on the scorecard was a fantastic effort and is his best gross score in competition to date.

There was then a fairly large gap back to third place, this fell the way of Korean golfer K.S Kim who makes his way to the winner’s podium for the first time, a net 74 was just enough to see off three other golfers all lurking on 75.

English golfer Tim Collins scooped the best gross prize of the day, he posted a very respectable 76, which was only bettered by Yazdi who had already picked up his runners-up award.

The Orient Travel – Thai Airways Order of Merit is now hotting up with Yazdi closing the gap on B.J Kim at the top of the nett standings, a unfortunate disqualification from Kim stopped him from claiming any points and advancing further. Yazdi also still holds the lead in the gross standings; he has opened up a 40 point gap over his nearest rival George Liu and looks pretty certain to take the title with just 2 events remaining.
