Daniel and Anina New Danat Hotels and Resorts 2013 Al Ghazal Golf Club Champions
The prestigious Al Ghazal Golf Club 2013 Club Championship sponsored by Danat Hotels and Resorts came to an end early Saturday afternoon when the new Champions for the 2012/13 Season Daniel Siegel and Anina Bester were presented with the coveted sterling silver chalice trophies.
New comer Daniel Siegel half way leader on gross 81 by one shot from Vernon Whaanga had an interesting battle on his hands, running almost neck and neck all the way, but a fatal mistake on 17 by Whaanga allowed Daniel to increase his lead and win the Men’s Championship comfortably by six shots, it also allowed Mark Hayman to overtake him by one shot to take second place. Daniel won with a total of 159 from second placed on Mark Hayman 165; third went to Whaanga on 166 and Richard Whiteside on 168 took fourth place. Best first and second day gross went to Jaco Breytenbach 85 and Kevin Darroch 82 respectively.
The Ladies Division runner up gross went to Lizette Breytenbach on 174 three shots behind winner Anina Bester and third placed Angela on 180. The Ladies best nett was won by Lady Captain Kate Davies on 151 from second and third placed Ming Brown and Anette Rego on 155 and 156 respectively.
The Men’s Best net was won by Bob Malone on 150 from second placed Ken Ritzal 151; third net went to Johan Friedmann on 152 on count back from fourth placed Rob Brown. Best nett first day went to Colum Boyce with a 72 and Marius Olivier on 74 for the second day.
The weekends 2’s Clubs went to ken Ritzal, Julian Hawlitzky, Jim Pullinger, Colum Boyce, Daniel Siegel, Rupert Evans, Jaco Breytenbach, Harvey Jefferson and Ming Brown.
