Dan Belton brakes through for his maiden win in the social stableford at Tower links
Dan Belton has broken through for his maiden win in the social stableford held on Wednesday the 15th of June.
Playing with the challenge of having to putt on freshly sanded greens didn’t seem bother Belton as he breezed around the nine in 22 stableford pts with the highlight to his round being the back to back nett birdies on holes 11 & 12. Shinjiro Hino who has been away for the past month didn’t display any signs of rust as he vaulted up the leader board into second place forcing a card count back to decide the fate of Joe Wivou & Ray Labonte for third position.
Unfortunately or fortunately whatever way you look at it, luckless Labonte failed by 1 point as over his final six holes he tallied 12 stableford points to the 13 of Wivou, dare I say, revenge will be sweet. Spooning on the night was Mr. Gene “Locomotive” Bryant who managed only 7 stableford points, but to his credit and the amazement of his playing partners he did get a little steamed up on holes 15 to 17 where he scored 4 points.
