Cunniffe wins Junior Open at Arabian Ranches Golf Club

Eoin Cunniffe returned a gross level par 72 to win the Arabian Ranches Junior Open Golf Championship on Saturday 30th March.

Cunniffe representing EGC and competes of a 1 handicap had nines of 35 and 37 including 3 gross birdies in his round, his birdies coming at the 3rd , 8th and 13th , however he had work hard for his 72 due to strong winds and tough pin positions.
The tournament attracted a field of 66 golfers from across the GCC with several players from Doha Golf Club making the trip to compete alongside the top Juniors in Dubai.

The format was an 18 hole stroke play event with play from the 6,531 yards par 72 course for Division A boys and Girls with handicap index as the allowance. Division B (14-28) played Stableford.

In second place two shots behind the champion was Rayhan Thomas with a gross 74. Thomas posted five gross birdies but a couple of bogeys and a double at the par three 12th hole made the difference.

The round of the day belonged to Eshna Bhargava who won best net in the Girls division with a net 64.
Other rounds of note came from Division B champion Vincent Buehler with 45 Stableford points, and Girls’ Gross Champion Kavita Sehmi who matched Cunniffe with a level par 72, Sehmi managed her way around the Desert Links and never ran into too much trouble posting five birdies and five bogeys on her way to victory.
