Cunniffe runs away with Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club Championship

Eoin Cunniffe ran away with the AESGC club championship for men with a solid performance over two rounds that didn’t leave his competitors with a chance.

A fine level par 71 on day 1 left him 8 shots clear of his nearest rivals. On day 2 a level par front 9 from Eoin left the result without question and he eased home to a 3 over par 74 and a total of 145 to give him the win. His nearest rivals produced better golf on day 2 with Edwin Scheepers taking second place on 154 and Jason Neese in 3rd Place on the same score.

The net event was equally as one sided, day one saw several good net scores notably a 64 from Gerard Dixon, a 65 from Alex Tinson and a 66 from the eventual net winner Eddie Garbutt. Eddie was the only player who could keep up his day 1 form following his 66 up with a net 65 to lead the field by 10 shots. Alex Tinson took the net runner up spot closely followed by Russell Cash whose consistent 70 and 73 saw him take 3rd place.

The Ladies club championship threatened to be equally as one sided as Michelle Sandford scored a great 76 on day one to lead the field by 10 strokes from Sara Donovan and Marja Kohn, A faltering front 9 from Michelle led to Sara closing the gap, Sara continued her good play onto the back 9 but Michelle also picked up her game and stood on the last tee with a one shot lead, Both players pared the last for Michelle to take the Club Championship by 1 from Sara Donovan and Marja Kohn who came in 3rd Place.

Although Sara missed out on the Gross prize with her fantastic 2nd round score of 76 net 65 she took home the net trophy.
