Corey Spring awarded Worldwide Golf Desert Island Double 5 Champion

In sunny summer weather, 66 golfers from around the Middle East competed to be the Worldwide Golf Desert Island Double 5 Champion at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi.

All players were looking to advance up the leader board on day two, and improve on their previous days score.

Day one was contested at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi. There were some fantastic scores on the day. Troy Thompson scored 34 points to take third place, whilst second place was narrowly taken by Nicholas Hymas with 35 Points. Runaway winner was Corey Spring with a fantastic 39 points around the very challenging Saadiyat Beach Golf Course.

Scoring on day two showed to be tougher, with windy and humid conditions. Best score of the day was by Abdul Al Hashmy with 34 points with a better back nine. The third overall place was taken by Nick Oatridge who had a total of 63 points over the two days. Second place was won by Nicholas Hymas with a 2 day total of 64 points. Congratulations to overall winner Corey Spring who managed to accumulate 72 points over the two days.

Robert Turner, Golf Operations Supervisor said, “These events provide a great chance to showcase two fantastic courses. The event has introduced many golfers from around the Middle East to Abu Dhabi, and gives them a chance to sample golf in the UAE. We look forward to hosting many more events like this in the future”.
