Cole and Sangani on Form in BMW Medal at Emirates Golf Club

The November BMW Monthly Medal over the Faldo course produced some high scoring with Jignesh Sangani and Darren Cole returning the best performances from the 61-strong field.

Jignesh Sangani signed for the best net score of the day a 72, a one under par tally, to clinch Division A (handicap 0-10). His closest challenger was Nigel Thompson, fresh from victory in the Emirates Mixed Amateur Open a fortnight ago; he carded a level par 73 for runners-up place. A count back decided third with three players on 74, it was Darren Cole who won the count back and claimed third in the net category and best gross of the day after a 78.

Anand Lakhiani was surprised to claim victory in Division B (handicap 11-20) following a 76. Bob Curtis took second after a 77 and Peter Mackenzie third on the same mark.
Suresh Shewakramani won Division C (handicap 21-34) with a net 74.

The 11th November also marked the launch of Simbo’s Skills Challenge sponsored by ABB. Club Captain Mike Sim has designed an Emirates Golf Club version of ‘Big Break’, a skills challenge contest over the season to try and find the most skilful golfer at Emirates Golf Club. Round one continues in November every Friday and Saturday, those players with the best scores will progress to round 2 in January with the Semi-finals in March and the Final during Mike’s Captains day on 18th May.
