Club Captain Evans wins The Luckiest Ball on Earth at Al Ghazal Golf Club

The Al Ghazal’s September Monthly medal was well supported despite the early shot gun start of 7am as well as the hot and humid weather last Friday. The event was also a qualifier for the ‘Luckiest Ball on Earth’ competition.  This initiative of the DP World Tour Championship will see members of 19 Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) affiliated clubs compete in qualifying events throughout September for a chance to play in the Rolex Pro-Am of the DP World Tour Championship.

This year saw the new Club Captain Rupert Evans romp home with a superb nett 67 winning the A Division’s top spot by 8 shots from second placed Vinod Arya [75] and the ‘Luckiest Ball on Earth’ qualifier for the Grand Final to be held on Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates on Monday, 22nd October 2012.  ‘We wish Rupert all the best and hope he is able to win the coveted prize in the Grand Final’ said Club Manager Angela Scurr, ‘it would be fantastic if he is able to earn a place in the Rolex Pro-Am DP World Tour Championship on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai in the name of Al Ghazal Golf Club’.

The overall Ladies Division was won by Anina Bester [9 handicap], with a nett 75, from second placed Ming Brown on 77.

The Men’s Division 2 was won by Vernon Whaanga with a one under par 70, from Ruben Jamora [71].  Division 3 winner with a par 71 was Bob Malone from runner-up David Tait [72].

2’s Club winners were Division 2 – Vernon Whaanga and Division 3 – Joe D’Souza.

Captains Rupert Evans and Kate Davies announced and distributed the prizes and also thanked DP World, Rolex, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Emirates Golf Federation and the European Tour for this great opportunity to take part in such a prestigious golfing event.
