Chris De Beaufort wins 2013 The Luckiest Ball on Earth at Al Ghazal Golf Club
The Al Ghazal’s September Monthly medal was again well supported despite the early shot gun start of 7am with hot and humid conditions last Friday.
The event was also the 2013 qualifier for the ‘Luckiest Ball on Earth’ competition. This initiative of the DP World Tour Championship, which has been running successfully for 3 years now, will see members of 20 Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) affiliated clubs compete in qualifying events throughout September for a chance to play in the exciting Rolex Pro-Am of the DP World Tour Championship.
The overall net winner of the ‘Grand Final’ will earn a place in the Rolex Pro-Am, DP World Tour Championship on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai on Tuesday, 12th November 2013.
Obviously, everyone tried very hard to win this special event and scores certainly reflected their efforts! Sadly, there could only be one winner, and having three competitors on the same score of net 69, a handicap count back had to be performed. The overall winner of the Luckiest Ball on Earth and September Monthly Medal with a best net back 9 score of 36 went to Chris de Beaufort. Chris will therefore represent the Al Ghazal Golf Club in the Grand Final on Sunday 13 October 2013.
September Medal Runner up position went to Julian Hawlitzky [back 9 – 37] and third placed was Jim Pullinger [back 9 – 38]. 2’s clubs winners were Vernon Whaanga with 2, 2’s clubs and Chris de Beaufort.
‘We wish Chris all the best of luck for the Grand Final’ said Club Manager Angela Scurr, ‘it would be fantastic if he could represent us in the Rolex Pro-Am DP World Tour Championship on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, we will be keeping our fingers crossed for him.
Captain Rupert Evans also presented the prizes for the August Medal which went to Ron Schuman [71], Richard Whiteside [73], and Ramesh Emmanuel [74] on count back from Rob Jennings.
