Chris and Charles Secure Qualification to Tech Access International Pairs UAE Final

The Abu Dhabi Golf Club hosted the latest Qualifying Event of the Tech Access International Pairs UAE on Friday. The third of 17 2010-11 Qualifiers saw the popular series played out on a European Tour tournament course for the first time as the capital’s most famous club prepares to host the world’s finest players next month in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. With visits to Jumeirah Golf Estates and Emirates Golf Club scheduled in February and March, International Pairs UAE will take in all three of the UAE tour venues but it was the Abu Dhabi Golf Club members who were offered the chance to win a coveted place in the Tech Access International Pairs UAE National Final in May 2011.

With the course in immaculate condition and the rough approaching readiness for the tour professionals, scoring was always going to be difficult in the better ball stableford format and this was proved by the relatively low winning score of 40 points, achieved by Chris Ross & Charles Parkes. The pair combined well and stuck to their task perhaps aware that a lower score than usual in this format might prevail. Their patience was rewarded as they claimed top honours by a solitary point from Aboshi Tomoki & Matsutani Takao, who compiled a respectable 39 points for the day.

Chris & Charles will join Ian Kelly & Denver Farrell of Arabian Ranches Golf Club and Stuart Blay & Stuart Williams from Abu Dhabi City Golf Club in the National Final, which will be played at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and hosted by Park Hyatt Dubai.

Third place in Abu Dhabi was secured by Mike Revell & Rob Ballantyne who finished with 38 points and managed to fend off Hany Abdelnour & Faris Al Azzawi through a scorecard countback. Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Mike Revell and Frederic Michel.

Tech Access International Pairs UAE, which is presented by Cadillac, moves to Dubai on January 8th, when members of The Montgomerie Dubai will have the opportunity to play in the most exciting amateur event in the UAE.

Tech Access International Pairs UAE is presented by Cadillac and supported by EHL Management Services, Park Hyatt Dubai, Delwood, Nike Golf, Worldwide Golf Magazine, Sport 360 and UAE Golf Online.
