Choi claims Orient Travel Thai Airways Monthly Stableford at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club

Korean golfer S.M Choi claimed the first edition of the summer Orient Travel – Thai Airways Monthly Stableford.

An impressive 4 under 40 points during the hottest part of the day was enough to see him comfortably home by 3 points. An outstanding front 9 of 22 points which saw 5 gross pars for the 23 handicap golfers proved too difficult for all the chasing golfers to claw back.

With golfers again having the option to tee it up either in the morning or the afternoon shotguns it allowed for a total of 30+ golfers head out to brave the summer temperatures. The mornings victory went to English golf enthusiast Rory Thomson, who just edged the win by virtue of a scorecard count back from Abdul Moiz Khan who finished in second place. Third went to new SGSC member Gary Hibbert whose handicap is beginning to tumble after a recent number of good finishes. With the mornings best gross going to Malaysian Andrew Say.

The afternoons best score was as mentioned earlier S.M Choi’s delightful stress free round of 40 points. He was an incredible 7 points clear of his nearest counterpart in the afternoon, fellow Korean Y.D Kim finished with 33 points, 1 point above a host of players all waiting on 32. The best of the golfers on 32 was Susan Baron who returned a superb back 9 total of 22 to claim the award. The afternoons best gross prize went as expected to Korean regular S.S Son who fired 28 points.

The field will return for the next edition of the Orient Travel – Thai Airways Monthly Stableford on Saturday 20th July.
