Casey receives well wishes from Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority

Injured Englishman, Paul Casey, who had been forced to withdraw from this month’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, has been wished a speedy recovery by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the Championship organiser.

Casey, a two-time Abu Dhabi winner, suffered a dislocation of the right shoulder while snowboarding during the winter break. The freak injury has ended Casey’s goal of drawing level with traditional Abu Dhabi rival and defending champion, Martin Kaymer, on three National Course wins when the tournament returns to Abu Dhabi Golf Club from January 26-29.

“We are devastated for Paul and wish him a speedy recovery,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Manager, ADTA. “He is a great friend of the Authority and we know from previous years just how much Paul loves playing in Abu Dhabi and on the National Course. It’s no secret that the Championship will have a new home next year and we look forward to seeing Paul back here in 2013 for a fresh tilt at the title in new surroundings.

“Paul is a fantastic ambassador for golf and a very popular player with regional golf fans. I’m sure he’ll be eager to put this disappointment behind him and use it as extra incentive to get back to top form and into the hunt for a Ryder Cup spot – we wish him all the best.”
