Carpetland Monthly Open Final at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club

Recently Dubai Creek hosted the 9th Final of the Carpetland Monthly Open Series. This was the last event of the season long series which aims to raise money for the ‘Friends of Cancer Patients Charity’ while providing the ideal platform for golfers across the UAE to come together and compete in a fun doubles format. 

As has been the case in recent years, the format for the final was combined pairs stableford with a field of 64 players who earned their place by finishing in the top four places in one of the monthly opens throughout the season.  In the end it was the duo of Dubai Creek’s Bayar Khan and Moiz Khan from Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club who were crowned champions with a superb 68 points which was a fantastic score given the ¾ handicap allowance.  Upon receiving their prizes they commented; “It is a great honour and a great achievement to win this event.  We played very well as a team, supporting each other the whole way round.  We would like to say a big thank you to Carpetland and Dubai Creek for putting together such a great event”. 

The winners of the April Carpetland Monthly Open Abdel Aziz Salem and Hisham Shammas also put in a great performance recording 64 points to take runner-up spot.  Third place was to be decided on a count-back after three teams finished on 63 points. It was the father/son duo of Balvinder and Ashok Sindhu who claimed 3rd spot after making 33 points on the back 9 to the other two team’s 32 points.
After the event was the Gala dinner along with a number of charity auctions a raffle draws.  A host of great prizes were won and bought with all proceeds going to the ‘Friends of Cancer Patients Charity’.  Mr. Shahriar Khodjasteh Group Marketing Director of Al Aqili Furnishings proudly announced that a total of over AED 150,000 was raised over the series.
