Captain’s Junior Par 3 League

The final event of the 2009/10 Captain’s Junior Par 3 League was held at Emirates Golf Club on the 20th March.The teams of four juniors, all under 14 years of age from Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek, Arabian Ranches and the Montgomerie have been competing in the League since last November. The league is a gross event where the lowest three scores from each team of four players is counted. The team with the lowest three scores over the four par 3 courses would be crowned League champions for 2010.

Coming into the last event the team from the Dubai Creek had a commanding lead of 19 shots over second placed Arabian Ranches. Barring a big upset the team of Rishi Nair, Fardeen Meeran, Kim Chiang and Aryaan Kumar were clear favorites to take the title.

Over the challenging par 3 course at the Emirates Golf Club under very hot and still conditions the champions elect did not disappoint. With scores of 33 (Nair), 35 (Meeran), 35 (Chaing) and 37 (Kumar) the Dubai Creek club scored an aggregate 103 for the day taking their winning 4 round total to 393. In second place with an overall score of 420 was the team from Arabian Ranches followed by the Montgomerie and Emirates.

On day prizes for nearest the pin were won by Jonnie Fagan and Rishi Nair.

The Emirates Golf Club Captain Mike Tracey was on hand to present the prizes and thanked the parents for their contribution to their children’s golf as well as commending the juniors not only on their standard of play but also their enthusiasm to practice, knowledge of the game and sportsmanship displayed throughout the events.
