Brown wins F1 Power play Pole position at Al Ghazal Golf Club

In celebration of the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix the Al Ghazal Golf Club held its annual F1 Power Play Stableford competition at the weekend.

The popular Power Play format has 6 browns on the course out of the 18 with two differing flags, a hard pin placement red flag and an easier white flag.  Competitors decide on their approach to the brown whether or not to take on the hard flag or not, if they take the harder option they could be rewarded with double points if they produce a nett birdie.  Every player must choose at least two out of the 6 hard pin placements.

This year’s men’s winner was decided on count back with both Murray Brown and Alan Dickman carding 39 points, the better back 9 of 24 points went to Murray. Third men’s place went to Richard Whiteside on 38 points.

The ladies event went to outright winner Anina Bester with second place going to Lady Captain Deborah Castle on 30 points.  2’s Club winners were Stanley Mirossay and Anina Bester.

Lady Captain Deborah Castle announced and distributed the prizes on behalf of Sponsors G.H. Mumm and GMP.
