Brown Defends Emirates Golf Club Amateur Open Golf Title

Birthday girl Lindsay Brown representing Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club fired a level par 72 over the Majlis to defend her Amateur Open crown.

Going into the final round there were three main contenders. Jo Schoeman carded a 4-over par 77 over the Faldo to take 2-shot lead over Brown and 4-shot lead over Sana Tufail.

Schoeman dropped shots over the opening nine and it soon became clear it would be a two horse race between Brown and Tufail. Tufail was one under gross for her round standing on the 16th tee box and stood at seven over par for the championship, level pegging with Brown. It was the short par four 17th that proved to be the turning point, Brown managed to chip in for an eagle two taking her to plus five and with Tufail three putting for the first time in her round a three shot cushion opened up for Brown going down the famous 18th hole. Both players bogeyed the last and Brown signed for rounds of 79 & 72 for a 151, six over par total and three clear of Tufail in second place.

Jo Schoeman recorded a third place finish following her victory in the Emirates Club Championship with rounds of 77 and 80.
