British Airways hosts Corporate Golf Day at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club to celebrate 80 years of flying to the Middle East

As a part of ongoing celebrations to mark 80 years of flying to the Middle East, British Airways held a Corporate Golf Day at Saadiyat Beach Golf Resort. Seven teams of four competed over 18 holes, and players competed two against two within each team.

British Airways invited some of their most valued customers from the UAE and a media team of journalists to take part in the competition. The teams were greeted and looked after during the day by ambassadors from the airline in full in-flight uniform.

A BBQ and prize giving ceremony followed the competition, with the team from Citi Bank scooping first place. Each member of the winning team received a Club World (business class) ticket and the team took home the British Airways trophy. First runner up was the Trade team who each received a World Traveller Plus (premium economy) ticket. The Press team came in third place and each member was awarded Upgrade Vouchers.

The competition also featured a ‘Beat the Professional’ challenge on the sixth tee. Five players managed to achieve a better score than a professional golfer and were placed into a draw to win a game of golf for four people at Saadiyat Beach Golf Resort. The winner of the draw was Mr Faraz Haider from Citi Bank.

Paolo De Renzis, Regional Commercial Manager, Middle East said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in the Golf Day. Each team embraced the spirit of the day and competition was fierce. The event was a great opportunity for us to mark a significant milestone for British Airways and is the first of several celebrations that will take place during the year.”

British Airways’ first flight to the Middle East landed at Sharjah Airport on 5 October 1932 and the region has remained an important market for the airline ever since.
