BMW November Monthly Medal Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club

The BMW November Monthly Medal was played today at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club with over fifty members enjoying the stunning course condition and the beautiful weather.

Dubai Golf Trophy team member John Felligham blew the rest of the field away with a superb one-under par 70 less his four handicap for a nett 66.  Fellingham dropped a shot at the second hole but birdies at the short 5th and tough 9th hole meant he turned in one-under 34.  He then started the back nine with birdies on the 10th and 12th holes and his fifth birdie of the day came on the short 14th when he rolled in another long putt on the flawless greens.  After a dropped shot on the 15th and a solid par on 16th he was 3-under par with the difficult closing two creek-side holes still to play.

Left hander Fellingham pulled his drive a little right on the 17th and was unlucky to find his ball behind one of the few palm trees.  He then took his medicine and chipped the ball back onto the fairway before playing a lovely wedge shot to just fifteen feet.  He then curled the putt home for a wonderful par save and found himself on the last tee needing a par for a round of 68.  Unfortunately another pulled drive kicked off the slope into the lake and after dropping in a bad lie he could only manage to advance another fifty yards into the waste area.  A good shot from the sand over the water finished just off the left of the green and then a chip and single putt meant that he made a good six in the end for a one-under 70.

After the round Fellingham joked; “Because of the discrimination against left-handed golfers I have had to take a normal putter and change it to a belly design.  This resulted in twelve single putts and six two-putts for just 24 in total for my round.  It’s just a shame I still choked on the last!”
