Blanchard starts the Al Ghazal Golf Club season a Winner in Captain’s Drive-in event
Last Friday the Al Ghazal Golf Club’s ‘Captain’s Welcome Back and Traditional Drive-in’ got off to an awesome start at 3.20pm when both Lady Captain Kate Davies and Captain Rupert Evans drove superb drives off the 10th tee to a full complement of AGGC onlookers. ‘It was one of the most intimidating things I have ever had to do in front of so many people!’ said Lady Captain Kate.
The winners of the Drive-in predictor were Chris De Beaufort for Lady Captain and Bakheet Al Ameri for Captain.
The 12 hole Stableford event began in earnest at 3.30pm and after the cards were checked, Bernie Blanchard emerged the outright winner with 29 points, from newcomer Marious Olivier on 27 points and Joe Southam in third place on 26.
2’s club winners were Bernie Blanchard, Paul Carrahar and Joe Southam. Lady Captain Kate announced the winners and Captain Rupert presented the prizes; both Captains welcomed everyone to the start of the AGGC 2012/13 season wished everyone golfing success for the coming months.
