Blanchard and Coetzee win Al Badia Better Ball Open
On Saturday the 28th May Al Badia Golf Club held the ‘TaylorMade sponsored Al Badia Better Ball Open’ with all the prizes donated by TaylorMade.
It was a fantastic day at Al Badia with the Golf Course in Stunning condition. The wind was up and certainly made the Al Badia course a great test. The scoring reflected the conditions with only a handful of pairs managing to break par. However the winning pair of Daryl Blanchard and Andre Coetzee had an incredible 65 with the pair combining perfectly. They had a front nine of 32 which included 3 gross birdies. The back 9 offered the same high standards including 2 birdies and Daryl making net eagle on the picturesque 18th Hole. Not only were the pair crowned Open champions but received the New R11 3 wood courtesy of Taylor Made.
The days’ Runners up were Mark Barge and Richard Holden who had a 67 and took the runners up spot and a TaylorMade Rescue Club on count back. The pair certainly deserved the position with an incredible back 9 of 29 consisting of 4 net birdies and 2 net eagles!! The third place pair were Morris Murphy and Ishpal Bajaj who also carded a 67 and received a TaylorMade Putter each. The pair had a steady front 9 but came alive on the back 9 with Morris holing out from the fairway bunker on the 12th for a net hole in one!!
Participant Mr. Neese quoted: ‘I’ve not played Al Badia before, the golf course was stunning and I really enjoyed the day’.
After the round all the participants went to Spikes for the presentation and a well deserved drink and BBQ!
