Bill Taylor and Lise Slane triumph in Al Badia Daman Investments International Pairs UAE qualifier
Another close finish in the Daman Investments-sponsored qualifying tournament on February 7th saw the winning pair of seal Al Badia Golf Club’s spot in the May 29th Daman Investments International Pairs UAE Grand Final.
The Robert Trent Jones Jnr. course at Festival City was in prime condition as more than thirty pairs teed off on Thursday afternoon, all vying for a place in the UAE Final at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, and a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to the International Pairs World Final at the stunning Hotel Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort & Spa on the Costa Blanca, Spain in October 2015.
Competition was fierce and scoring was excellent, with the eventual winners Bill Taylor & Lise Slane taking the honours with a score of 42 Stableford points. Two points back in second place were Kieran O’Connor & Yulia Savina, while third on the same score was the pairing of Mark Rix & John Allen who lost out on the runners-up spot after a countback over the final nine holes. The nearest-the-pin prize on hole number eight was won by Dominic Peacock, with Malcolm Turner taking away the longest drive award.
For the seventh qualifier in succession, the Virgin Atlantic Airways hole-in-one prize of two return tickets to New York went unclaimed.
At the prize-giving dinner, also sponsored by Daman Investments, tournament organisers OnCourse Golf welcomed Mr. Shehzad Janab, Head of Asset Management and Advisory, Daman Investments, who graciously handed out the TaylorMade prizes to the winners,
The Daman Investments International Pairs is supported by AGMC/BMW, Standard Chartered Bank, Mediclinic, Visa, TaylorMade and Virgin Atlantic Airways. The next Daman Investments International Pairs qualifier will take place at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club on Friday February 13th, with the remaining qualifiers take place at most of the 5-star Dubai based clubs between 29th February and May 14th. Club members wishing to participate should enter through their home club.
