Barrack and Van Dyk savour Westin Summer Open success at Abu Dhabi Golf Club
An impressive 64 players took to the National Course in a bid for victory at the recent Westin Summer Open 2013, hosted by Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The field battled it out under the ever-popular ‘Pairs Betterball Shamble’ format in an attempt to clinch the title and luxury prize of a complimentary night stay at The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa.
This year’s Westin Summer Open champions were Ryan Barrack and Daniel Van Dyk who shot a fantastic betterball score of net 57 to win by four strokes.
The team of Adi Husaini and Mohd Rizal posted a respectable net score of 61 to take second place, winning them a complimentary spa treatment. Following closely behind by one point with a net score of 62 were the pairings of Andy Karacinski and Wanni Jefferson, and Mark Jefferson and Paul Spinks, with the former taking third place on count-back.
In the special events, ‘Nearest the Pin’ was won by Ken Raynor for the men on hole 12 and Lina Tyson on hole four for the ladies. Jamie Shepherd recorded the men’s category longest drive on hole two, while Mi Ran Lee won it in the ladies category on hole nine. Winners of the special events were awarded either Heavenly Spa treatments or a complimentary weekend night stay at The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa.
This year’s Westin Summer Open was a great success and will return to the National Course in a year’s time for the 2014 edition.
