Bain backs Monty for Ryder Cup glory

Dubai’s Ross Bain is backing fellow Scotsman Colin Montgomerie to lead Europe to victory in the Ryder Cup later this year. With less than 100 days until Europe faces up to the USA at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales, Bain believes the European team – with Emirates’ sporting ambassador at the helm – has never been stronger.

Bain – who is also sponsored by the airline – said: “To have a captain with the experience of Monty will be a huge advantage. Having won five out of the eight Ryder Cups he competed in, not losing one singles match, he clearly understands what it takes to be successful in the event.

“He will be an inspiration to his players and is fortunate to be able to pick from a hugely talented pool. Graeme McDowell – having just won the US Open – will be brimming with confidence, while Lee Westwood is showing a level of consistency comparable to anyone in the world.
 
Bain – who lines up alongside Monty this weekend in Munich’s BMW International Open, of which Emirates is the Official Airline – added: “With the likes of Rory McIllroy, Padraig Harrington and Ian Poulter also likely to be in the team, Monty has an incredible opportunity to add to his phenomenal Ryder Cup record.”
